Paulette has been dabbling in real estate most of her adult life – buying, fixing-up, and selling rental properties for years before deciding to jump into real estate full time. With a business degree, strong relational and communication skills, a love of homes and fondness for people – it was a natural fit. Paulette knows Denver well as she has lived here since her early twenties, raised her children here, and has chosen this as a place to call her home. Get to know even more about Paulette below!
What attracted you to real estate?
14 years ago - my life took a turn that changed my trajectory and I needed to support myself and my 3 young kiddos on my own. RE was a perfect fit for me as I was looking for a career with flexibility in work hours and where there was no cap on my income potential . IF I worked hard/smart – I knew I could earn more than I dared dream. I was not working for someone else to get wealthy from my efforts – but for ME…. it was all up to me. AND – I believed I could do it!
I had worked in sales/marketing most of my adult life, had purchased several rental properties, updated them, went thru the process of doubling the size of my own home…great learning experiences that I could draw upon. Additionally – I have always believed that RE is a fantastic vehicle to personal wealth building and love sharing my beliefs about this with all I come in contact with!
You probably wear a lot of different hats. What are they?
Best mom ever! Amazing wife, professional listener, board member for a non profit building homes in Nepal, kind, generous friend, skiing goddess, always eager hiker, adventure seeker, Martha steward social event hostess, wise encourager, weaver of dreams.
What has been your strongest area of growth?
Trusting the process through the ups and downs of a real estate business. Like the ocean – waves are too high – from too much business – I can’t keep up…..then the low part of the wave - I have no business – no food on the table. Trusting that this business has an ebb and flow to it – but as long as I do my part to pull in the big waves – they will come. They always have and I trust they will.
My part in building the momentum of the waves is to keep in touch with my clients and friends – not reaching out to them because I should – but because I want to. I spend my time having fun and doing what I love because people like to hang with people that are having fun and doing fun things. AND – THEY WILL WANT TO WORK WITH THEM TOO!
I have found that by becoming a real estate agent I hold my friends closer, I dig deeper with my clients –solidifying my relationships and allowing them to bloom into a friendship of mutual respect and trust.
Any tips for new agents?
Set up rhythm and routine to your day . We human beings all do better with structure. Get up – work out – dress nice – go to the office -- spend time in the bull pen while while you write that letter to your friends announcing the new career – you will overhear things from other agents that you will NOW KNOW and when a question/situation comes up, you will better know how to respond to it. Schedule time to preview homes – explore different neighborhoods – get to know them so you can advise your clients once you get one!, look for something unique in a house – share that unique house to your friends – post it on Social Media. Join clubs and get more involved in doing the things you love - get out there weekly & consistently – hold open houses – trust the process – it works – be coachable….. DO NOT STAY HOME IN YOUR JAMMIES ALL DAY – GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND engage in any way you can with people --- let them get to know you - !
What’s your dream vacation house?
My dream house has large open rooms with high ceilings, large glass windows and doors opening to mother nature, patios, fire pit, gathering space. It is a place where all my friends and family come to relax, unwind, drink too much, laugh too loud – feel safe – feel heard – feel loved. My dream house is a place where my community loves to gather – feed each other’s souls – where all are always welcome, the energy is good here. This house could be in the mountains – here in Denver – at the beach – all would work.
It is just a cozy, loving place where all are welcome.
Favorite house that you’ve sold this year?
A Bau house inspired home in Hill Top. It had this amazing atrium in the center of the home with floor to ceiling windows all around – 3 huge skylights – a beautiful water feature. The huge kitchen, dining area and living room were all open to each other and the atrium. Super unique –– so much fun to have something very unique to talk about and be able to share this hidden gem in the middle of muck mansions.
Would you ever want to live in a castle?
Don’t want to live in a Castle. Too much cleaning to do.
Why should CO homebuyers choose a Your Castle agent?
Because we have an incredible body of passionate, knowledgeable, experienced agents that are some of the best in the I have worked with so many agents thru the years- but the YC agents are more dimensional than most. They know more about real estate than just selling a SF home, they know how to safely navigate you personal wealth building, into becoming a landlord, stretching into your first fix n flip , advising you that your home may be worth more as land value to a developer – than sold just as a tired loved home. We know more – we have deeper tool boxes – we coach and advise and assist our clients in creating more than they thought they could. We truly are real estate experts - therefore we see more deeply into solutions that work best for our client. One additional bonus - we are fun – and invite you to join us while you work with us! We want to be by your side through the long haul – and we work hard to earn that trust and respect.
