    5 DIY Home Improvement Projects

February 18, 2021 By Lon Welsh Leave a Comment

This year we have spent hours on end in our home. Now more than ever, we have discovered the nooks and crannies that went unnoticed before. The chipped paint. The closet door that just will not shut. The tired backyard. The messy cords in the office. Do not worry you are not alone in noticing these flaws, it might just be time for some home improvement! Luckily for you, we are going to help improve your home in 5 simple steps!

    1. Throw on a fresh coat of paint

We know it can be tedious and you probably rolled your eyes when you read this step; however, a fresh coat of paint can make a house feel brand new. It is a DIY project that makes a dramatic difference. The best part about paint is that it serves so many purposes! Paint your kitchen cabinets; make a statement with a painted fireplace or front door; touch up peeling paint around the house. You can even go crazy and welcome in an accent wall in your living room or bedroom! Not an artist? Do not worry! Follow these steps to paint like a pro.

    1. Clean out your closets

Springtime is right around the corner and we all know what that means. It is almost time for some spring cleaning! This step does not require any tools or cost any money, but it will make you and your home feel much lighter. For this step, take everything out of your closets. Decide what you want to keep, toss, or donate. If you are feeling fancy, invest in some closet organizers or keep it simple and give your closet a good wipe down before putting your “keep” items back in. Need a spring-cleaning checklist? 1. Hang some string lights

If you are looking for a new gathering space, but your backyard is not cutting it, hang some string lights! Globe café lights set the mood and can quickly turn a boring outdoor space into an extra entertaining spot. Outdoor space is great for social distancing and the summer will be here before you know it. Do not have anywhere to hang your lights? Try this DIY.

    1. Make the cords disappear

Technology is making our households more efficient, while at the same time giving us something ugly to look at. This is your sign to make those messy cords disappear! Get them out of sight with these DIY tricks.

    1. Update Kitchen Hardware

An easy, cheap home improvement is to update your dated kitchen hardware. These gold brushed Wayfair knobs are only $5.99! Do not be intimidated by this step. Be your own handyman by measuring out the width of your existing cabinet pulls and reminding yourself you can always touch up small dings. This step can turn a weary kitchen into something glamorous!

    It is the little things

It is the little things that can add up when making improvements around your home. The market is HOT and it is a great time to sell. If you are looking to sell, complete these 5 home improvement steps, and contact a Your Castle agent as soon as possible!
